Breastfeeding Friendly Philly
In September, Mayor Nutter signed City Council Bill 130922 into law extending the rights of breastfeeding employees in Philadelphia.
Employers must provide nursing mothers with reasonable accommodations to express milk at work.
These reasonable accommodations are for ALL nursing employees and must include a private, clean space, not a bathroom and provide appropriate break time to pump. Failure to comply with this new ordinance can result in fines.
Because of our work supporting workplace breastfeeding efforts, Our Executive Director, JoAnne Fischer and Katja Pigur, Director of Clinical and Breastfeeding Services were invited to speak on behalf of breastfeeding mothers at official bill signing.
