If you ask me, 2017 is off to a pretty great start so far — I mean, we’ve already been blessed with a new Chewbacca Mom!
Meet Katie Stricker Curtis: The new mom who received a hilarious Chewbacca mask for Christmas and decided to bring it along with her while giving birth. Oh, and then allow herself to be filmed wearing it mid-labor.
Stricker Curtis shared a video of herself donning the mask while having contractions in her hospital bed, along with the caption:
“Just because I’m about to be a mom doesn’t mean I have to grow up! Bwahahahahs never take life too seriously! Best Christmas gift ever!

Since being posted on January 2, the video has garnered an impressive 102K views! The Star Wars mask made Stricker Curtis’ painful screams sounds like the Wookie language spoken by none other than Chewbacca himself.
Amazing. This definitely takes the birthing experience a next level … of some sort.
Of course, no one could truly replace the original Chewbacca mom — Candace Payne. As we all now know, Payne bought herself a Chewbacca mask at Kohl’s last year, Facebook lived herself wearing it (while laughing hysterically), and reached a level of viral fame few of us ever will.
But hey; there’s enough room for both of these Chewbacca-loving moms in the great, vast Internet. Here’s hoping both never lose their awesome sense of humor — and to Stricker Curtis, congrats on the new addition!
