News Anchors Have Hilarious Taste-Test of Coworker’s Dip on Live TV: “It Burns!”

During the holiday season, there are tons of parties and get-togethers. There are classic dishes that are perfect to bring to any dinner party, like appetizers and desserts. But when your attempt at an appetizer goes horribly wrong — and on live TV — it can be pretty embarrassing (but hilarious).

This clip from Global News Calgary has quickly gone viral for all the right reasons. Traffic reporter Leslie Horton explains the situation with her artichoke dip — and I think we can all relate. “I didn’t want to bake it. I’ve been busy. So I didn’t want to make anything but my family was all freaking out,” she says to her coworkers (live on air, mind you).

She just wanted to get a classic fruit cake from Safeway, but she says that her family insisted that she make something. I mean, we’ve all been there.

Apparently her family sent her a recipe for this artichoke dip, and it did not turn out right. You know it’s not going to go well when she starts off by saying, “I’m going to make you guys try this,” while laughing.

Meteorologist Jordan Witzel is the first poor soul to try a bite, and his face says it all. “At first I’m like, it’s not that bad. But it’s — it’s the vinegar,” he says while trying not to toss his cookies.

“But there’s no vinegar in there!” Horton insists.

He couldn’t even swallow the bite, and all of the anchors are just losing it. Anchor Amber Schinkel tries so hard to keep it together, but all she can say is, “It burns,” and anchor Scott Fee just keeps laughing the entire time.

The video, which already has 864k views, never resolved what went so terribly wrong, but Horton tweeted that she finally figured out what she did to cause such raucous reactions.

Apparently the key is to NOT use pickled artichokes!! @MoonLghtwrkrs

I’m sorry to break it to you, but pickled means vinegar.

Don’t worry — we can all learn from her mistakes. At least we all got a laugh out of her unfortunate mix-up.
