After posting on Reddit about being charged $39.35 for his wife to have skin-to-skin contact with their newborn, new dad Ryan Grassley is here with an epic comeback.
YUP, he’s charging $39.35 for any hugs with his son.
While it turned out that the family was actually charged for having an “additional caregiver” in the room, Grassley still wasn’t happy about it. He tells Babble:
“Turns out the bill was poorly worded and created a lot of confusion. But the entire situation was funny to me, and watching it spread around the globe was a bit mind-blowing. So I thought it would be fun to make a onesie.”
While many Reddit users accused Grassley of trying to use his kid to make money, he noted, “So far only one has been sold and I’m the one who bought it. It really only makes sense if you’re my kid and went through what we went through.” See, Internet haters — it’s just a joke!

We wanted to get Grassley’s thoughts on how he thinks his son will react in the future after discovering he had a short moment of “Internet fame.” He explained:
“I’ve set up an email account for both my kids and send them updates about their lives. I write to them as if they are already adults and plan to give them the username and password when they are ready.”
Pretty cool idea. How awesome would it be to have a virtual diary from your __parents telling you about all of these great memories? Grassley continued:
“Sometimes it’s a long note giving an update on what is happening and how they are changing, and sometimes it’s a short sentence and a picture. Great way to record little moments that would eventually be forgotten: ‘Hey you went down the slide by yourself for the first time today.’ ‘Hey The Tonight Show made a joke about your hospital bill today.’ Stuff like that.”
You know, that time you were casually mentioned on The Tonight Show. NBD.
