Our memories of family car trips usually involve vomit bags, frequent bathroom breaks at less-than-desirable truck stops, and at least one or more kids crying in the backseat for dad to PLEASE PLAY ANYTHING OTHER THAN KENNY ROGERS.
But those were the days before cell phones, iPads, and parents who would willingly listen to their kid’s music. Nowadays car trips are apparently a lot more fun … at least if you’re a member of the O’Malley family of Georgia.
Dad, Chris, has quite the YouTube following for his dash cam videos of him lip-syncing to popular hits with his teenage kids, Briana, 17, and Sean, 15. According to TODAY.com, “the road-trip videos started as a way to pass time” with Briana while on five-hour car rides. With Sean riding in the back acting as DJ, the family created videos and posted them on Facebook and then YouTube.
The videos have taken off one by one, but none as much as their latest to Taylor Swift’s “Shake It Off,” which now has over 1.8 million views. Watch the video above to see why it’s the best thing on the Internet right now. (Just a warning though, you’ll be singing it all day.)
Want more from the O’Malleys? Our personal favorite is this one they posted in May of Chris and his daughter lip-syncing to “Timber” by Kesha and Pitbull. For an extra laugh, head to the discussion section where comments include: “My mom has a HUGE crush on you …,” “I think all the single moms of the world want to know if [you’re] single,” and “Chris, you are HOT ‘just saying.”
Hey, Chris, inquiring minds want to know. Don’t leave us hanging here …
